Festival Printemps Fleuriau édition #5

This year, Printemps Fleuriau is challenging its guest artists to a "duo/duel": in pairs, they'll have to compose an artistic pairing that combines their respective creativity and constraints, both in the subject matter and in the production of the works presented.

There's a meeting between two artists, between two worlds, as between two atoms, and there's what connects them. On the one hand, inert dust particles, and on the other, the breath that animates them. Likewise, on the one hand, the material used by the artist, his reflection, and on the other, the moment of encounter with the viewer, with the gaze of others - the moment when his production comes to life and becomes considered a work of art. Each of the two-artist teams presented this year will have to work on this tipping point, defining with two eyes, four hands, the moment when their work passes from the state of production to the state of artistic installation, and finally to be transformed into a work of art. Symbolized by the number 5, representing the breath of life and quintessence, the 2024 edition promises to make the maritime city dance with a wind of artistic creation, combined with a political desire for encounters through culture and contemporary art.

Both popular and of the highest artistic quality, the Festival aims to promote artists and contemporary creation.
It's an event that's both demanding and accessible, arousing curiosity through "a celebration of art", and totally free*.

Whether works created for the occasion, recent works or emblematic works, these projects have all been conceived, at the invitation of this year's Festival team, by visual artists, musicians, authors or performers.

* The Musée du Nouveau Monde, partner of the event, opens its doors free of charge on the opening day of the Festival, Friday May 24, 2024. Admission is charged on all other days, with reduced admission for the duration of the Festival, until June 15, on presentation of a "Printemps Fleuriau" counter-mark to be collected from the galleries on rue Fleuriau.
