Exhibition - La Géante - Pier Gajewski

These experiments have given rise to a gallery of "extraterrestrial" figures staging the feeling of strangeness that inhabits us all.

"Very quickly, the fold before cutting out my shapes and the surprise of the result when unfolding them became the thread linking all these strange characters. I fold, I cut, I assemble, I look for associations of colors and shapes... I stop when I finally feel the satisfaction of having found the right combination.

I try out new compositions, vegetal, organic, anatomical shapes... larger formats. The small papers pile up, and don't always find their place in my collages, or not immediately. My collection is growing, and little bowls filled with these transparent, colorful shapes are waiting on my desk.

With this initially recreational practice, I've finally achieved a synthesis of everything that drives me: the clean, precise shapes of decoupage, the search for colors and their fascinating diffusion on paper, the interplay of transparency, superimposition, assembly and balance."
