Spring Poetry Festival

Poetry is expansive. Its density of energy and living matter enables it to constantly invest new territories.
This credo is the driving force behind Printemps des Poètes.
Its profile: poetry that resonates, in all its diversity, the high sound of language and thought, poetry as a space of freedom and reflection.
Its angle of attack: to organize, encourage and promote actions that propagate poetry, whether through events or publications.
Its field of action: French and international poetry.
Its focus of intensity: creation that turns words into visions. Our aim is to make the dynamism of this vision ever more manifest, so that poetry can be seen as it is today:

Pure energy, imaginative eruption, the power of life.

Conceived by Jack Lang and created in 1999 by Emmanuel Hoog and André Velter to counter preconceived ideas and make manifest the extreme vitality of poetry, Le Printemps des Poètes has become a major event, transforming the month of March into a vast poetic echo chamber.

Whether it stems from a profound sense of social or amorous injustice, persistent existential pain, violent anger at God and mankind, total rebellion against the world as it is, or all-consuming passion, poetry is sometimes like a volcanic eruption, a flow of burning lava.
To evoke the metaphor of the volcano, these readings will feature the voices of René Depestre, Antonin Artaud, Astrid Cabral, Marta Petreu, Jean Pérol, Gaston Couté and many others.

Musical encounter - Maurad Mancer
Maurad Mancer is a provocative and sarcastic artist on the contemporary music scene, renowned for his biting lyrics and wry humor.
His musical repertoire oscillates between committed French chanson and satirical performance, using humor like a scalpel to dissect society's failings.

Reading "Du feu autour de l'oeil" (Fire around the eye)
Meet Hyam Yared on the occasion of the publication of his new collection Du Feu Autour de l'Oeil, followed by the reissue of his book, Blessures de l'Eau. "Coming back to a book written twenty years ago," Hyam tells us, "with the idea of echoing it through another is something of a quest. It's a game of mirrors in which writing seeks to mirror itself, moving from a collection based on water, centered on erotic desire in phase with the four elements of nature, to another centered on cities or regions ravaged by fire and diluted in their pain, their destruction, their urban exiles."

Public reading "Looking at La Genette, writing La Genette".
As part of Printemps des Poètes, Jolidoigt Films and La Genette - Comité de quartier put out a call for submissions to Regarder La Genette, Écrire La Genette. Following a selection committee, several texts were chosen for a public reading by the authors. The event will be rounded off by the screening of a number of short films about the La Genette neighborhood, produced by Jolidoigt Films.

The Maison des Écritures dedicates this evening to the poetesses of La Rochelle! The first part of the evening is devoted to a poetic writing workshop led by Floriane Durey, poet, author, photographer and plant sculptor. In the second half, a circle of women authors and poets join their voices for readings and discussions on their practice, in which you are invited to take part.
