This journey through the photographs of Edward Curtis will take you on an encounter with the peoples of the Great Plains of North America. Using a combination of photography, drawing and dry pastel, you'll create an expressive and poignant portrait.

Let's discover some of the portraits presented in the collections before trying our hand at the technique: in a beautiful gilded frame, let's create pretty, expressive faces by superimposing collages and graphics.

Let's go to the Great Plains of America to find out. Gather feathers, beads and colorful threads to protect yourself from evil spirits and nightmares, then customize a dreamcatcher.

Dance initiation

Put on your best jogging suit and discover the origins of transatlantic dance and music, then let yourself be carried away by these bewitching rhythms, guided by the percussion instruments. Workshop led by dancer Achile Dinga.

Join us in the vegetable garden to discover an ancestral cultivation technique from America, which could well prove useful to budding gardeners... A journey combining observation, a sensory approach and experimentation with plants.

Discovery tour
A tour for the general public to discover the particularities of a grand house from the Age of Enlightenment, and learn about La Rochelle's transatlantic history through the museum's key works.
This tour is offered every Thursday during the school vacations, at the same time as a workshop for young visitors (see asterisks in the program).
