Départ en navette depuis Vérines (arrêts de bus Mairie et Stade de football)
17540 - Vérines
Commissioned in 1925, the Fraise-Bois Boulard plant is the oldest drinking water collection site in the Agglo.
The station opens its doors to the public to reveal its history and its role in the region's ecological transition.
As early as 1904, research carried out in the vicinity of La Rochelle revealed the hydrographic potential of the valley floor where the river Curé flows. Located on the southern edge of the Marais Poitevin wetlands, at the junction of Vérines, Saint-Médard-d'Aunis, Saint-Christophe and Anais, the Fraise pumping station now produces 2 million m3 of water per year, out of the 8.5 million drawn by the Agglo.

A choice of 2 tours (one narrated and one naturalist) will be offered, with registration required, to give visitors a better understanding of how the site works.

Throughout the day, the site will be alive with a convivial guinguette atmosphere, with actors in period costumes providing a light-hearted, offbeat nod to history.

No parking on site. A shuttle bus will leave Vérines at the Mairie and Stade de Football bus stops to take you to the Fraise station (15-minute journey).

Shuttle departure :
at 9 a.m. for the 9:30 to 11 a.m. tour ;
at 10:30 a.m. for the tour from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ;
at 1pm for the 1:30pm to 3pm tour;
at 2.30pm for the tour from 3pm to 4.30pm ;
at 4pm for the visit from 4:30pm to 6pm.

The shuttle bus will bring you back 15 minutes after the end of the tour.

If you wish to come by bike, you can go directly to the station 15 minutes before the tour time.

As the site is subject to the vigipirate plan, we need to know the names of all tour participants (including children): please make a request to register each person, giving their full name and date of birth.

The dramatized tours are accessible to people with reduced mobility. The nature walk is out in nature, and therefore less accessible to strollers and wheelchairs.

You can also make an appointment by telephone on 05 46 30 35 34.
