The dancing birds

In Esnandes, the Pointe St-Clément, which is classified as a nature reserve, is home to hundreds of water birds. This cliff, which towers over the mud flats, is a great observation site.

Whatever the season, you will be able to discover loads of new species. In winter, you can find 100,000 birds there at the same time! In spring and summer, the red knots, the black tailed godwits and other wading birds get their orangey breeding plumage.

There is no need to be a specialist to appreciate this unique sight! And for people who are more curious, days out in nature are also offered all year by the Ligue Pour la Protections des Oiseaux (Bird Protection League).

Panoramic viewpoint

But the Pointe St-Clément is also an incredible window to see all of Baie de l’Aiguillon. And what’s more, in front of you, you will see the Pointe de l’Aiguillon in Vendée. These two points mark the two furthest points of Baie de l’Aiguillon and the outlet for all the rainwater coming from Marais Poitevin.

A viewpoint indicator and signs explain all about the headland of the Pointe Saint-Clément from which you will be able to see: Ré Island, the Vendean coast with the Aiguillon-sur-Mer islands or St-Michel-en-l’Herm.
