BUZAY: a little history
Built around 1770 by Pierre Etienne HAROUARD - ancestor of the de MONTBRON family, current owner - Château de Buzay in La JARNE bears witness to the art of living experienced by the city of LA ROCHELLE when privileged links were established between its port and the colonies of the New World.
Buzay embodies the balance that made 18th-century France a universal artistic reference. Its architecture, where delicate detail softens perfectly proportioned lines, has been handed down to us from the masters of ancient Greece.
The furniture, in perfect harmony with the interior decoration, has been preserved in its original condition and layout. The French-style gardens are home to a natural world, sometimes tamed, sometimes spontaneous, which surrounds the château like a jewel box.
Through the ages, Buzay is a "living" residence, and a visit to it will allow you to enter into the intimacy of a family that has lived here since it was built. They are delighted to share their passion with you today.
