Economical, beneficial to health and the environment, cycling meets the ecological, social and health challenges facing our regions. The Agglomération de La Rochelle has made the development of cycling a priority in its Mobility policy.

The Agglomération has set itself the goal of increasing cycling (doubling the modal share dedicated to cycling from 7% to 14% by 2030), an ambition that we must share wholeheartedly.

Over and above the gradual improvement of services and infrastructures, (re)getting back on the saddle means transmitting a cycling culture that we want to promote throughout our territory.

On the program:
By way of example... On Tuesday May 1, a Convergence à vélo proposed by A Vélo Sophie, Vélodicette, Vive le Vélo, Vélo-école Tand'Amis and the Comité Départemental de Cyclotourisme will reach La Rochelle from Esnandes, Vérines, Aigrefeuille and Châtelaillon-Plage. On Saturday May 10, women's cycling will be honored by Vélo au féminin, with rides and a conference on bicycle travel. Friday May 16, a festive bike parade departs from the station at 6 p.m. for the Parc Charruyer to celebrate the new improvements to rue Léonce Vieljeux. Saturday May 24, a Mai à Vélo village opens in Nieul-sur-Mer, with repair workshops, a bike ride and a photo exhibition. On Sunday May 25, the parents' association of the Pierre Loti school in La Rochelle organizes a bike market, a BMX and motor skills course, games and other activities. Thursday May 29 Tous au Parc returns to Périgny for a day of activities, the inauguration of the bike path, a BMX workshop, a bike ride to discover the parks, bike-smoothie and shows.

The Communauté d'Agglomération is also taking part in the Geovélo Challenge. The idea is to cover as many kilometers as possible by bike throughout the month of May. Associations, companies, schools and local authorities are also invited to take part, by downloading the Géovélo application and joining their organization.
