Exhibition of photographs by the Périgny photo club, in collaboration with the writing workshop at the Maison de Quartier de Port-Neuf in La Rochelle, with the aim of developing original creative work.
Since November 2022, the Club photo Périgny has been in contact with the Atelier d'écriture of the Médiathèque de Port Neuf in La Rochelle, with the aim of developing a joint project.
The Photo Club has proposed photographs to the writers, who in turn have developed texts, in verse or prose, inspired by the images received.
Writing brings to photography an interpretation that often differs from the photographer's intention, and thus enables the emergence of a new expression.
Photography, etymologically writing with light, and writing with pen and words, complement and reinforce each other to offer the viewer a double emotion.
The culmination of this creative process is the subject of this exhibition of some forty panels combining photos and texts.
Périgny Photo Club
The Club was founded in 1977 on the initiative of Michel Bourriau, with the support of the municipality of Périgny.
48 years on, Michel Bourriau is no more, but the Club Photo Périgny is still active, with the same values as Michel's: conviviality, friendship and sharing.
In September 2024, the Club had 42 members and was ranked as the number-one photo club in France.
It ranked first among the clubs in the Poitou-Charente region that took part in the 2024 competition organized by GRAP, Groupement Régional d'Art Photographique, and won the Jean Boyer trophy.
The writing workshop at the Médiathèque de la Maison de Quartier de Port Neuf
It's a place for creation, for developing the imagination, a literary laboratory in which to explore and experiment, a playground where we have fun with words, stories, the group and language.
The aim is to feel at ease with writing and to create a strong bond with words and between workshop members, a space for mutual enrichment.
