Dance - 1er Regard sur Bocarra - Luísa Saraiva

After several group pieces exploring the physicality of the voice, Portuguese composer Luísa Saraiva continues her work on the sound potential of the body in movement and on active listening with her new creation, Bocarra (meaning a wide-open mouth). To do so, she draws on the female polyphonies of Spain and Portugal, a repertoire whose subversive, melancholy content was often erased by the dictatorships of the 20th century, as well as on all the technologies that have sought to make sound tangible: devices, instruments and other extensions that increase the body's potential for sound. In Greek, isn't the word "organ" synonymous with "instrument"? Prior to its premiere in Bordeaux, Luísa Saraiva presents a final stage of this work, the fruit of her residency at the Chapelle Saint-Vincent in La Rochelle.
