The Town Clock is on the gateway tower situated in what remains of the medieval town wall separating the old town and the harbour. The XIV century massive base had two gates, one for carriages and one for pedestrians, but was altered to one archway in 1672. In 1746 the pepper-box roofs were replaced by a dome with pilasters, small columns and cherubs supporting globes and flags.
