The PH'ART Guardians exhibition is the culmination of the Lighthouse Guardians adventure, in order to present to the public the diversity and richness of the personal artistic production of the guardians.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the lighthouse in 2020, the association Le Phare du Bout du Monde has developed the Lighthouse Keepers project: to offer volunteers the opportunity to spend 24 hours alone in the Phare du Bout du Monde in La Rochelle, with the sole requirement that they report their feelings at the end of the 24 hours, using the means of expression of their choice.

From October 18, 2019 to October 29, 2020 and despite the health situation, 255 volunteers followed one another on the platform off the Pointe des Minimes and offered us their feelings about their stay in the form of texts, photos, videos or any other media they wished...

The guardians of a night turned out to be artists for a day!

255 guardians, that's almost 255 works!

As expected, the participants offered us their impressions of their stay in the form of texts, photos, videos or any other media they wished...

We counted :
- 119 authors of texts, poems or documents mixing texts and images,
- 44 photo albums,
- 38 drawings, paintings or collages,
- 6 comic strips,
- 14 videos,
- 12 musical compositions, songs or sound recordings
- and 32 creations of works as diverse as original...

Each arrival and departure of the guards was also the occasion for a quick filmed interview on their motivation and their first impression.

A beautiful setting: the Maritime Museum of La Rochelle

In order to present the personal artistic production of the guards to the public, the exhibition is planned and the Maritime Museum of La Rochelle has honoured us by hosting it.
