A marvellous renaissance building, of which only the gallery exists to this day. It used to unite two much grander buildings. The decor pays homage to the great sculptors who worked at that time in La Rochelle. The curved, colonnaded windows are in the etruscan style on the ground floor, Ionian on the first. The frieze is of triglyphs, rosaces and bucranes, and above that skylights surmounted by vases can be seen. The detailed sculptures, the ceilings and caissons are worth a particularly close look, the execution is excellent.
